Small town of Kenwood – the Sonoma Valley Trek

Enjoy this three day trek vacation which is designed for those looking for a short, luxurious getaway. You will be in the small town of Kenwood, in the Sonoma Valley of the Moon, amidst world class wineries and beautiful state and regional parks.

Your Itinerary:

Day 1: Kenwood Wine Tasting

Plan on arriving in the lovely “Valley of the Moon”, Kenwood, by 1:30 p.m. to enjoy your first wine experience of the trek. Your hotel is a small luxury inn and spa noted in Travel and Leisure as one of the top 100 hotels in the world and a Reader’s Choice winner in 2010. Walk a short distance to a world class estate winery where they produce and make wines from only their vast estate. Enjoy learning about the estate as you are taken to their mountaintop terrace to sip excellent wines overlooking a stunning view of their vineyards and the Valley of the Moon. After tasting, return to the inn to relax before a wine country dinner, either at the inn or an excellent nearby restaurant.

Hiking today: No long hikes are planned for your arrival day. You will walk about 1 mile between your inn and the winery.

Day 2: Annadel Hike and Wine Tasting

Today you will be transported to Annadel State Park, to hike amongst the oak, chapparal, and redwoods. Afer a picnic lunch in the park, you will walk to a lovely private family wine estate to enjoy an in-depth vineyard experience and wine tasting. Then continue your walk through the quaint village of Kenwood and end at a special winery where you will enjoy a wine tasting in the coolness of their cave. A short walk brings you back to the inn to relax before dinner, which can once again be enjoyed at the inn or an excellent nearby restaurant.

Hiking today: 10 miles (16 km) with 600 feet (180 m) elevation gain and 800 feet (240 m) elevation loss.

Day 3: Hood Mountain Hike and Wine Tasting

Today is a gorgeous and challenging hike in Hood Mountain Regional Park. After another short transport, you will hike up to the top of a 2700 foot mountain and enjoy your picnic lunch on a rock outcropping overlooking one of the best views in the wine country. After meandering down the mountain you will finish your trek with a wonderful food and wine pairing experience at one of California’s premier wineries.

Your quick getaway has come to an end; a transport will return you from the winery to your inn.

Hiking today: 8 miles (13 km) with 2100 feet (640 m) elevation gain and 2300 feet (700 m) elevation loss. (Note: If you would prefer to make your last day a wine tasting day or a spa day, rather than hiking, please let us know.).
