Trekking in Kumaon

Kumaon Himalayas is perfect for those trekkers who wish to meet tough challenges. It is outstanding tourist destinations in India. The Kumaon, close to the Tibetan border, Nanda Devi (7816 m), is the geographical and spiritual high point of India. Surrounding the peak is an incredible area of mighty 6000 and 7000m peaks. Nanda Devis’s inner sancturay is presently off limits to climbers and trekkers. However at one time it was the coveted destination of several early 20th century journeys all of which failed to reach the sancturay until Eric Shipton and Bill Tilman reached it via the Rishi Ganga gorge in 1932. Tilman eventually climbed the main peak for the first time in 1936.

Pindari Glacier Trek
The most easily accessible glacier in the Kumaon region, the Pindari Glacier has a beauty of its own. Situated between the snow-capped Nanda Devi and Nanda Kot Mountains, Pindari is a big and steep glacier measuring 3km in length and 0.25km in breadth. Milam Glacier Trek
Milam Glacier is about 28 km long, biggest glacier of the Kumaon, Uttarakhand. It originates from the slope of Kohli and Trishul peaks and situated on the south facing slope of the main Himalayan range. Milam Village which is located near the glacier is one of the highest villages in the Himalayan range. Munsyari is the base for the trek route leading to Milam glacier
     
Kafni Glacier Trek
Kafni glacier is situated on the east side of Pindar valley and south of Nanda kot peak. This region has its own charm with the solitude it presents. This region is very rich in wildlife. The Himalayas peaks near the glacier are Nandakot (6860 mtrs), Nandabhanar 
 
Maiktoli Trek
To the west of the Pindari Glacier, situated on the southern slope of the Sunderdhunga Khal, is the 5 km long Maiktoli Glacier. This glacier forms the source of the river flowing on the steep slope for about 25 km before joining the Pindar river at Dhakuri meadows.
The west of Maiktoli Glacier, is the Mrigthuni Glacier situated on the southern slope of the Mrigthuni, Devtoli peaks. It is a 6 km
